Dystonia

Daniel Azagra

Pianist

In 1990 I had to abandon the idea of dedicating myself professionally to the piano due to a mysterious mobility problem in finger 2 of my left hand that no doctor was able to diagnose or, much less treat.

In 2004, I developed a similar, but even more serious, problem with fingers 4 and 5 of my right hand, which made it absolutely impossible for me to play the piano, not even at an elementary level.

I went to the Institute in 2007, where I was diagnosed with focal dystonia in both hands and was offered Sensory Motor Retuning treatment.

The treatment went very well for my right hand and in a little less than a year I overcame this dystonia. It took a little longer for my left hand, but I finally did it too.

In fact, I now have more agility with both hands than before developing dystonia, and above all, more control and precision on the keyboard.

I will always be infinitely grateful to Sílvia Fàbregas and Jaume Rosset for their essential help in overcoming this serious disorder.

In addition, they also treated me very well for a cut in a tendon in my right thumb.

I recommend the center to anyone who has or suspects they may have focal dystonia, regardless of whether they live very close or very far from Terrassa, because the treatment they offer is certainly the best available today.

From my experience, I'm sure this is the best place to look for help. I wouldn't trust my hands (or my brain) to any other team.
